Buyatab Online Inc. announced today that Matias Marquez, has been named the company’s next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective July 6, 2018. Matias is the company’s founder and serving Chief Operating Officer. Johann Tergesen, the company’s preceding CEO, has been appointed Vice Chair of the Board.
Buyatab has grown to become a leader in digital gift giving, with a solution that allows merchants to transform and expand their gift card programs by leveraging the powerful trends toward online commerce and mobile device usage. Buyatab has been recognized for its rapid revenue growth, having been named to Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 list, as well as earning the fastest growing software company in Canada title by Profit 500 in 2017. In 2018, Buyatab also earned the Growth Company of the Year Award at the 25th annual Technology Impact Awards, hosted by the BC Technology Industry Association.

Matias has served in senior leadership roles within the organization since the company’s inception in 2009 and has continuously held a directorship position on Buyatab’s Board. Over the years, Matias has been recognized with numerous awards for his entrepreneurial success, including: being named a BC Business Top 30 Under 30 recipient in 2016; winner of the 2016 EY Entrepreneur of The Year award; and being named to Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 for 2017. A digital gift card industry pioneer, Matias has been instrumental in driving Buyatab’s growth and customer-focused success.
