Chief Executive Officer / Board Director
Mr. Tergesen has extensive experience in leadership roles at emerging technology companies. He co-founded Burcon NutraScience, an agri-technology company listed on the Toronto and NASDAQ stock exchanges, serving as president and chief operating officer for over 16 years. Previously, he was vice president and treasurer for Burcon Properties Limited, a real estate development and ownership company with assets in excess of $3 billion. Mr. Tergesen holds an MBA from McGill University, and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Chief Operating Officer/ Board Director
Mr. Marquez has received many awards for his entrepreneurial success, including being recognized as a 2016 BC Business Top 30 Under 30 and 2016 EY Entrepreneur of the year. Mr. Marquez founded Buyatab in 2008 and has grown the company into a global leader in digital gift-giving. He is an active advisor to early-stage technology companies. Mr. Marquez holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University and the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Chief Financial Officer/ Board Director
Mr. Barrett has over 20 years’ international business experience that comprises both consulting and several senior management positions within public companies in Canada and the United States. Mr. Barrett’s range of commercial experience includes financial reporting, process optimization, risk management and SEC compliance. Mr. Barrett holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Mount Allison University and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Falk has over two decades’ experience in the technology sector, spanning a wide breadth of commercial applications, including energy trading, forestry management, consumer retail and financial services. Drawing on his experience as an application and enterprise architect, Mr. Falk has served in senior technology management roles for the past 16 years, focusing on business and technology alignment. A veteran of many different compliance efforts, he also brings a strong background in implementing modern product/technology management techniques that maintain compliance with industry regulatory standards. Mr. Falk holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Victoria.
Vice President of Sales
Mr. Gunaratna joined Buyatab in 2011 and oversees the company’s sales team. He works with many of the world’s leading brands to develop and facilitate unique solutions tailored to meet their business objectives and challenges. Mr. Gunaratna is also responsible for driving strategic partnerships and enhancing existing relationships with current partners. He holds a certificate in Professional Sales Management from the BC Institute of Technology, and has an extensive background in sales within the information technology industry.
Ms. Musa joined Buyatab in 2013, bringing her energy and dedication to bear to help drive the success of the company. She has financial, accounting and team management experience gained providing services to a wide array of private and public companies while working at Deloitte Canada. Ms. Musa holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
A serial entrepreneur, Mr. Fulmer is Chairman and CEO of FDC Capital Partners. FDC has brought many companies to the Profit 100 list of Canada’s fastest-growing firms. As a sought-after and accredited director, he serves on a variety of corporate and community boards. Mr. Fulmer was named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2007, and received the BC Community Achievement Award in 2010, the Spirit of Vancouver Award in 2011, and the Order of British Columbia (the province’s highest honor) in 2011.
Mr. Burtch is a Partner at Fort Capital Partners, a Vancouver-based investment banking firm that works with public and private companies in Canada in the areas of merger and acquisition advice, raising capital, and markets advisory. Prior to his time at Fort Capital, he had a 15-year career working in large-cap corporate advisory and capital markets environments, most recently at CIBC World Markets in Vancouver as Executive Director, Investment Banking. Previous positions have included Director, Corporate Finance at 360networks Corp and Analyst, Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch & Co. Mr. Burtch holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in finance from UBC’s Sauder School of Business and the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Harald Will is a successful technology entrepreneur, having founded, invested in and advised technology companies since 1987. He serves as Executive Chairman of ACL Services Ltd, a global audit and risk-management software company. Harald was a founding investor and board member of Subserveo Inc, a brokerage compliance software solution acquired by DST Systems. He also serves as an advisor to Rock the Post, an equity crowd-funding platform that connects high-quality entrepreneurs with accredited investors interested in exciting, new start-up companies. He is a past board member and Chair of AceTech, the Academy for Technology CEOs (www.acetech.org). Harald was recognized as a Top 40 Under 40 award recipient, and was named one of Treasury & Risk Management magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in Finance” in 2005 and again in 2009.
Chief Barking Officer
Draper founded InstaBark, an app allowing dogs to bark at people (and cats) remotely, which was acquired by FaceBark. When not chasing his tail, Draper eats gift cards for breakfast and can count to infinity. In 2013, Draper won a game of Connect Four in only three moves. It is rumoured that, when Alexander Bell invented the telephone, he had three missed calls from Draper. Draper was named one of the Top 2 Under 2 Global Canine Entrepreneurs in 2014. In 2018, he earned his Time Travel and Teleportation degree from Barkley University.
