What a wild ride we have had! 2020 had the world on its toes. The constant ever-changing situation presented us with challenges, one after the other. Our resilience was tested but thanks to our team’s passionate spirit and entrepreneurial mindset, we were able to collaborate and persevere! We quickly adjusted to remote working where we were able to accomplish large initiatives. leaving us with many moments to be thankful for and proud of..
but of course, all while keeping a safe distance!

Here are our top moments of 2020:

1. Hosted Conferences:

In February 2020, Buyatab hosted its first Buyatab Mini-Conference, a three-day event with two different tracks, Development and Architecture and Product Management and XaaS Business Fundamentals. While the Development and Architecture track was aimed toward our Tech team, the Product Management and XaaS track was a perfect opportunity for more business-oriented employees to learn more about the company and the structure of XaaS companies.

In March 2020, we also expanded our annual event, Buyatab & Beyond and joined the Stored Value Solutions’, SVS Exchange, a two-day conference held immediately before.

Through curated content, informative speaker sessions, and industry networking our goal for this year’s conference was to leave attendees with a deeper understanding of gift cards and a greater understanding of where the industry is going for the future.

2. New Features

We are constantly evolving our platform to ensure our customer’s digital gifting programs are growing. We implemented new features, such as offering multiple promotions to your consumers at once, dynamic messaging to let customers know when they are missing out on a deal, and allowing for multiple bonus cards to be delivered in one email to increase efficiency and convenience.

3. Our Buyatab family is growing

Once a Buyataber, always a Buyataber. We invested in our own people. Teams have elevated to new heights as new roles were created based on: business needs and Buyataber’s specific skillsets. Not to mention, our Buyatab Dog Gang has increased from 5 to 10+! And some #babyBuyatabers have joined us on this amazing journey.


4. Clients launched

We partnered with new clients around the globe to implement and grow their digital gifting platforms in time for the busiest time of the year, the holiday season. Digital gift cards were a huge focus for all brands in 2020 and we were proud to support our partners and launch new ones.

5. Work from Home

We quickly pivoted as a team and transitioned to a full remote work operation. We gathered resources to better prepare managers to begin extending support to their team members with informational resources, equipment and of course, many zoom calls!

6. Return to Office

When some restrictions were lifted, our Return to Office Taskforce created a safe and COVID-friendly working environment for Buyatabers. However, we do continue to strongly encourage working from home for those who may be at risk or who do not have a private means of transportation. Currently, we support each other virtually.


7. Giving back

Although in-office fundraisers and in-person community events were cancelled this year, we creatively thought of ways we could give back. We raised over $1000 for The Shoebox Project’s #VirtualShoeboxCampaign to support women impacted by homelessness in communities across Canada and the US.
